Set of Kodachrome slides taken from contemporaneous television broadcast.
This is an image of time-travel. These slides were taken by my maternal grandfather, Jean Pierre, as a record of the lunar landing. They show contemporary record of one of the great global spectacles of the 20th watched by and estimated 600 million people. The video images broadcast from the lunar surface through the earth’s atmosphere to be reproduced worldwide on TV, then to be captured on Kodachrome 64 is an encapsulates an incredible history of the recorded image.
These images formed part of an installation in the Prufrock exhibition at Stretch Gallery in 2019.
