Margate Reimagined
Uncharted Histories: A Journey to Now

Workshop 2 Transit Collective

26th October 2:00-4:30. Shop Front Margate, 161 Northdown Road, CT9 2PA

In the 1960s, as Britain’s seaside towns fell out of favour, Margate Borough Council laid out an ambitious plan to rejuvenate the town by creating a brand new marina on the site of Margate Old Town. Using this abandoned scheme as a starting point, Margate Reimagined presents the town as it might have been, or could yet become.

Join us for the second workshop to explore the history of Margate (both real and imagined) and develop ideas about the future. Using model-making and stories this workshop aims to take a creative approach to Margate’s development.

All ideas will contribute to the Imaginary Archive and work will feature in the current Margate Reimagined exhibition in the Shop Front. The intention for this project is to restore creativity and positivity into to our built environment through cultural participation.

Materials will be provided and no experience is necessary. Suitable for age 12 upwards though under 16s must be accompanied.
